This Privacy Policy explains how Cambio Education ("Cambio", "we", "us") handles personal information when a teacher, parent, or student uses the Cambio voice-first English learning game (the "Service").

1. Who this Service is for

Cambio is sold to and used by private English teachers. Teachers add their students to a class. Students are typically minors (ages 8–12). Parents or legal guardians must consent to their child's use of the Service — the inviting teacher is responsible for obtaining that consent before sharing the invitation link with a family.

2. What we collect

From teachers

• Name and email address (from Google sign-in)
• Class names you create
• Students' email addresses you invite

From students

• Name and email address (from Google sign-in by the parent or kid)
• Voice recordings of spoken commands while playing, processed for speech-to-text
• The text transcript of each voice command
• Game progress: chapters completed, vocabulary used, time played, mastery scores

3. How we use it

• To provide the game and its voice-recognition feature
• To show teachers their students' progress in the teacher dashboard
• To improve our speech-recognition accuracy (aggregated transcripts only — see below)

4. Voice recordings

When a student speaks, the audio is sent to our voice-recognition partner (Groq or OpenAI) for transcription. The audio itself is processed and discarded — we do not store the raw audio. We keep only the resulting text transcript, attached to the student's account, so the teacher can see what was said.

5. Third-party services

• Google — sign-in (OAuth). Google's privacy policy applies.
• Groq / OpenAI — speech-to-text on voice recordings.
• ElevenLabs — converts game-dialogue text into spoken audio. No personal data is sent.
• Railway / our hosting provider — runs the application servers and stores the database.

6. Cookies and local storage

We use a small number of cookies and browser localStorage values:

• Authentication token (so you stay signed in)
• Game progress flags (e.g. which chapters have been completed)
• Music mute preference, first-time-tutorial flags

We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

7. How long we keep data

• Account data: kept while the account is active.
• Voice transcripts and progress: kept while the account is active; deleted upon account closure within 30 days.
• Backups: encrypted nightly backups of the database, kept 14 days.

8. Your rights

You (or, for a minor, the legal guardian) may at any time request that we:

• Show you the data we hold
• Correct any inaccurate data
• Delete your account and associated data

Email cambio.admin@gmail.com and we will respond within 14 days.

9. Children's data

We rely on the inviting teacher to confirm parental consent before adding a student. We do not knowingly collect personal data from a child without that consent. If you are a parent who believes a child has signed up without your permission, email us and we will delete the account.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will email registered teachers when material changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change.
